Make Each Day A Story

I had to have this stamp!  I have two grandchildren and when I scrapbook pages of them, that is what I am trying to do, tell them a story about us as a family.  When I am with my 5 yr. old grandson and we lay down to sleep, he always asks me to make up a story to tell him (of course he is trying to delay falling asleep).  What I tell him is little stories about his dad and uncle growing up, how his dad met his mom, or, the one he likes best, is when he was born in TX and I had to run to catch the airplane, the door was shutting to the boarding gate and they said I was too late; I started crying and said I had to get on the plane because my grandson was coming 5 weeks early and I had to be there! (they let me on the plane- :) and I got to watch him being born! (thank you mommy)
My visit last month to my granddaughter who is 9 mos. and lives in CO, I took lots of pictures and emailed them to her mom and dad while they were in Antigua for a wedding.  I wanted to show them that her first time alone with Granny B she was having fun and they could relax; we bonded over those 9 days and I am working on a scrapbook for her about it. I read books to her during the day and at night while rocking her to sleep (C-don't tell on me), I'd tell her about her dad growing up and how he proposed to her mom.  Stories should be passed down to children so they know who they are and have a sense of belonging.  I am so lucky, I love both of my daughters-in-law; they are good to me.

Good morning from Charleston, SC!  This pineapple stamp from Inkadinkadoo reminds me of the city and that it welcomes tourists from all over.  The card stock is soft suede and crushed curry from Stampin' Up! and so is the Thinking of You sentiment stamped on a tag punch, corner ticket punch on the card.  I filled in the stamp image using SUs water color crayons.  The larger space is punched using a Martha Stewart edge punch.   Thanks for visiting....

DIY Vanilla Body Scrub

I am all about saving money on things I enjoy in life.  A nice body scrub then soak in the tub is essential to relaxing and nourishing your skin at the same time. This scrub leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrated with no need to slather anything else on afterwards!
I make this scrub using all organic ingredients - it's insanely easy!  I like knowing exactly what is in a product I am putting on my skin.
1/2 cup organic finely granulated sugar
1 cup organic brown sugar
1/2 cup organic sunflower oil (or other carrier oil-grape seed, sweet almond, olive, etc.)
4 Tsp. organic vanilla flavoring extract
1 Tbl. organic honey (optional)
Mix everything together very well and place in any type of jar you have around.
So easy and smells wonderful.  Enjoy and thanks for visiting....

Extra:  It is easy to make your own vanilla extract and it is inexpensive; it can be used for cooking as well as body scrubs:
4 organic vanilla beans (slice and dice very small)
1 cup vodka or bourbon
Place vanilla beans and seeds in a jar, cover them with the alcohol and place cap on jar.  Shake and swish the jar every day for approximately 6 weeks.

Dancing Chicks

(click picture to get a closer, better view)
Easter will be here soon and I love these little chicks; they look so happy and they're having fun!  With one stamp, you can mix it up so your cards are not exactly alike.  Again, I used Stampin' Up! pretty in pink, whisper white and daffodil card stock along with melon mambo solid and dotted ribbon and daffodil ribbon, pearls and dotted ribbon punch.  Chicks and Happy Easter stamps are from Stampendous.  I stamped the chicks onto daffodil card stock and again on whisper white then cut out the white ears, glued over the daffodil and shaded in pink the ears.  Thanks for visiting....

I was playing around with taking pictures and using various 'props' to show my cards.  This is a grapevine wreath that I hot glued seashells I picked up along the beach at Edisto, SC and St. Augustine, FL and here at home.  The card uses all Stampin' Up! supplies; crushed curry for the flower and card base with whisper white background which I used the vintage wallpaper embossing folder; early express ribbon and cardstock as well as the word and butterfly from the stamp set Creative Elements.  I accented with tiny pearls in the flower and above he butterfly wing.  It was made at my upline's February stamp class.  Thanks for visiting....

Because I Care...

This morning I wanted to show you a card I made while visiting my grandson this past week in Florence-of course while he was at preschool!  BTW, he sat down with me and made a sheet of stamped images for his mother who had been out of town; creativity runs in the family??
I used Stampin' Up! card stock in Wisteria and Whisper White and their watercolor crayons to fill in the image.  For the frame I used Martha Stewart stamp around the page punches and Spellbinders circles to cut out the center.  I popped up the white frame using SU dimensionals.
Feedback is welcome and please sign up to follow me; I plan to add more posts on organic beauty treatments such as make your own lip balm, body scrubs, facials, etc.
Thanks for visiting and have a good weekend.  I plan on webcaming with my granddaughter later today!

Travel Journals

I recently posted Christmas journals but wanted to show how versitile these notebooks can be.  They can be given to someone who is getting ready to go on a vacation by car or can use your imagination to do the same for a train, bus or cruise trip!  The car and airplane were cut by my friend and owner of Scrapbook Concepts in Florence, SC using her oh-so-vesitile Pazzles.  My sister-in-law has a Pazzles and we are working on learning how to use it!  I purchased the paper and embellishments at Scrapbook Concepts.  Thanks for visiting.....

Small Notepads

Yesterday you saw the larger journals I make; here is the smaller notepads that are also great as gifts or to stick in your purse!  I purchased these from Staples during a promotion for $.29 then covered using paper and stickers from a local scrapbook store no longer in business.  Please, if you have a local scrapbook store, visit them to help them stay in business.  I decorate the front, back and inside front cover so it looks very nice.  Thanks for visiting....

Christmas Theme Journals

It's never too late to get started on your Christmas gifts for friends, family, teachers, co-workers, etc.  These are those easy to find black and white marbled note books that I paid $.40 each for and covered, so it's not that expensive when you can get them on sale-usually around beginning of school.  The designs I created using Stampin' Up! MDS (My Digital Studio) which you can get a free 30-day trial now.  I can help with that!  I used Stampin' Up! red line tape to adhere the paper to the notebooks.  Thanks for visiting.......

Beach-Word Book

(Click on the pictures for a better view)
Word Books are great to give as gifts; it's an easy way for beginners to learn to scrapbook.  This BEACH book was given as a birthday gift to one of my daughter's-in-law using pictures taken during my grandson's first visit to the Atlantic Ocean.  It's also a great memory keepsake to my grandson for when he grows up.  Scrapbooking shows in pictures the time we spend as a family and how cute he is at different stages of life!!  I do need to finish up the book by tying ribbons on the circle rings.  Thanks for visiting....all supplies were purchased at a Charleston scrapbook store no longer in business.

Owl Punch

Today's post is a birthday card using all Stampin' Up! products.  The owl punch is one of my favorites because you can dress him up to be anything!  Yep, pirate, santa, devil, ghost, zoro, reindeer and so many others.  The sentiment was typed on my computer then I used the small label punch; the scallop punch was used on the triangle eges.  The card stock is early expresso, the ribbon is olive green and the designer series paper is Good Morning Sunshine.  Thanks for visiting...

Count Your Blessings...

This card was inspired by a Pinterest post.  I typed the tag using my computer, used the word punch then added a small heart from the owl punch and tied it to the jar using baker's twine.  All products are from Stampin' Up! with the exception of the jar stamp by Inkadinkado.  I am a demostrator and will be happy to place an order for you.  Thanks for visiting and have a nice Sunday.

Valentines Day-2012

Happy Valentine's Day.  This is a favorite scrapbook page I made a few years ago of my grandson as a baby. The hearts and words are stickers and some hearts and doodles I did by hand; the music notes and heart are die cuts from a local scrapbook store as was the paper and the letters are red glitter chip board.

These are cards cased from Pinterest.  The SU crumb cake cardstock is used for the small envelope, real red card stock then Very Vanilla stamped with EnFrancois background stamp, corduroy red button, SU twine and various SU hearts stamped using I (heart) Hearts stamp set and punched then placed randomly to look like they are escaping.  Inside sentiment I typed on my pc is Sending Love Your Way.

Below is another Valentine card cased from Pinterest were I added a few changes....all SU materials used.

It's feeling cold here in Charleston today and it made me think of falling leaves.  By now you can tell I absolutely love SUs Spice Cake DSP!  This is a criss cross card I made using the paper and SUs Gently Falling stamp set using Soft Suede.  The tab punch on the pull out card is also by SU along with the card stock Pool Party, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  The leaf brad is by Spare Parts, The Paper Studio.  Instructions for a criss-cross card can be found here Splitcoast Stampers.  Thanks for stopping by.

My pictures are a little small so please click on them to get a closer look.  These cards were cased from Kittie Kraft but made my own by using SUs Spice Cake DSP, Perfectly Penned or Well Penned stamp sets, SU card stock and SU bird punch and heart punch.  The bird house is a free template I found at Capture the Moment blog templates.

Below is a picture I took from inside my home while watching a hawk on our birdfeeder in the back yard!  He is beautiful.
